|
I'm starting to think about the 2005 Annual Memorial Day Manatash Run.
If you are unsure what the Memorial Day Manastash run is... check out this post: http://www.4wheelingplus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6
I know that I am bringing my new bike and up to 4 ATV's as well as my Land Cruiser... How? I have no idea.
I saw an ad for a 40' trailer in the Renton WA area but I haven't had time to go look at it.
I've got the F-350 Super Duty with the Power Stroke so it will pull anything. I just need to get my camper on the back of the truck then somehow get all the ATV's, motorcycle and Land Cruiser on a really big trailer or??? Does anyone have any ideas?
I may get my wife's Ford Explorer a little trailer so that she can pull a couple of the ATV's. I don't know yet.
Heck... I'm even considering buying some land up there in the Manastash and putting a steel container on it to hold the ATV's. I'm scared to death that someone will steal them. I would do what I can to secure it, but if they want them bad enough they will get them.
As for what's happening this year... The only thing that I am currently planning is to have a great time. I want to ride and drive my toys so much that I HAVE to take a few weeks off from playing just to re-coup.
The snow is almost non-existent here in Cle Elum. That means the main trails should be driveable by Memorial Day. BUT: As we all know WA weather can change at anytime and hit us hard with snow. I will post more weather updates as we get closer to May. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

Hey Guys,
This is Chris, I had the snow camo early bronco last year, I will probably be up there with Chad (blazer from last year) and another friend, Cass, with a blazer. We had a good time last year, really got a kick out of our night run (can't remember the trail #), but it was the one that you drop off the ridge and pretty much slide down the rock face(it was raining), Chad and I made it back up , but had to winch up Cass(blazer). Good Times |

Two questions, what's the place on the home page that had that huge trench that the two jeeps were climbing in and out of? Anyways.. I'm always up for 4x4 adventures as I've said in the past.
Also a side note, you shoulda bought a duramax.. powerstrokes.. Don't get me started haha. But yeah a turbo diesel pretty much will pull anything. |

Hey Chris! I think I've got a few pictures of your rigs on the site somewhere.
A night run would be awesome. Let's plan on doing one this year if the trail conditions are good and we have a few "very" capable rigs to go with us.
I can't wait to go wheeling this Memorial Day!
--------------------------
tstyles33: Those pics were taken at Reiter Pits in Western WA. There are some killer trails over there! We are planning an early March run to Reiter. I think it will be the weekend of the 5th & 6th. It will be a snow run... perhaps up to Lake Isabel? _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

The Manastash would be sloppy if you went there today (2/12/05). I doubt it would be much fun unless you could make it up to the real trails... and then you would need someone with you and at least one winch. I don't recommend doing it alone.
Stay out of the mud or we risk loosing all of our trails. Be careful and have fun.
Oh yea... take pics and send them to me when you can. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

Haha yeah.. well I don't tear up stuff, i just go through them. I don't spin around and destroy anything at all, or if it's not on the road i don't touch it. No matter how fun it looks. I'm pretty respectable and all that. But hey how did you guys get to this place. http://www.4wheelingplus.com/manastash04/pages/040529105956_JPG.htm
Wow.. that looks fun. I love that sort of stuff, And good news today. Got my exsaust brackets replaced. No more clanks; they kept braking even after i welded them.. man they were a mess. |

That's the 4W307. It starts right where the Manastash Camp Ground ends.
We will be going there over the Memorial Day weekend if the snow depth allows it.
It hasn't snowed as much this year as it usually does so going down the 4W307 is very possible this Memorial Day unless is dumps between now and then.
The 4W307 goes towards the Shoestring 4W308 as well as the Funny Rocks 4W694.
You have to go all the way down the Manastash Road for several miles before you get to the trail head. It's about 10 miles after the road turns to gravel. Make a left after Rider's camp and go towards Manastash camp ground. This left is just before the cattle guard. If you go over the cattle guard and drive for a few hundred feet you will make a hard right over the Manastash Creek and end up in the Buck Meadows area.
Go here for directions to the Manastash - Buck Meadows area: http://www.4wheelingplus.com/manastash/
I will be going up to the Manastash camp ground on Wednesday April 27th to check out trail conditions if you want to go with. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

| Yeah thanks man, I remember I use to always go camping in buck meadows. a really long time ago that is. Haven't been there in ages, not since I got my liscense. So I'll have to take a gander up there, oh and.. snow always permits, grab a set of chains and we'll get 'er done haha. |

Wow. I can't believe it's almost Manastash time again!
I am soooo far behind on getting ready.
Ok: Since I didn't have time to properly plan anything this year I am just going to load up the camper & toys and head up to the Manastash and have fun!
I am NOT sure if I am going to camp at Rider's camp like all the other years... I am thinking about going into the Manastash camp ground and setting up camp there since it's farther away from the main road and the 4W311 trail head. I'll have the kids this year and it's scary being so close to the main road and the 4W311 trail head with all the vehicles going every where.
So: Look for me in the Manastash camp ground if you don't see me at Rider's camp. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

BRRRRRR... It was a lot colder in Cle Elum this morning (5/17/05) than I expected. There was even snow in the hills around Snoqualamie Pass this morning. We need the snow & rain so the fire danger stays as low as possible. I just hope the snow & rain decides to take a break over the Memorial Day Weekend.
As I always say: Bring extra cloths just incase.
NOTE: I'm still planning on camping towards the back of the Manastash camp ground instead of Rider's camp this year.
I've got a small motorhome and car trailer now. Both are as old as I am and in about as good a shape... in other words: If you see an old school motorhome broken down on the side of the road... it's probably me. If there is a Land Cruiser strapped to a car trailer on the back: IT IS ME!!! HELP!!!
Oh boy!!! I can't wait much longer. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

Pics of this years (2005) Memorial Day Manastash Run coming soon.
I couldn't find my digital camera battery charger so I had to use disposable cameras and I am waiting for them to be developed. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

I'll post them if I get them. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr
