I bought it without motor, tranny, t-case and sitting on stock suspension. I was going to part it out. Long story short it got passed around between friends and I finally ended up with it again. Shocked

Now it sits on a Rough Country 4.5" lift kit and 33" TRUXUS tires with Staun beadlocks and 3.73 gears with Lock-Right locker in the rear Dana 35.

Got the K40 CB antenna installed:

Got toggle?

I installed 4 toggle switches where the factory clock was.

Installed lots of new wiring including a distribution block and relay for the 2nd fan:

Put a 33" tire on the front to get an idea of how much cutting I need to do:

This is how much I cut out:

This is what it looks like after modifying and re-installing the factory flare:

Here is a pic showing the 33" tire on the front and the stock tire on the rear:

After looking at Clay's Tweety Jeep I figured I would do something similar. I cut and pounded the extra metal out:

I then raised the stock flare so that it looked proper "IMO" and then cut out the door opening:

I got tired of working on the outside so I decided to do some wiring.

CB, stereo, off road lights, 2nd electric fan, etc.

I love wiring... I just hate putting all the dash parts back in after I wire everything:

Now I gotta figure out what all those electronic boxes are and if they are "really" needed??? LOL!

I found one that said emissions timer or something like that. It had little plastic gears in it. Shocked

3-4 months later and I finally bring it home.

The front bumper is almost done and we've scrapped the round tube slider idea and plan to do square instead. <--- Clay's idea that finally caught on. :laughing6:

It runs and drives and is just needing the front drive line and then tires/wheels to be installed, plus some minor tweaking.

I've been playing with it for a couple of days:

Coming along, looks good. One thing I would done differently is a locker in the front if this was going to be a dedicated snow wheeler instead of one in the rear. I learned the hard way, tree holes will eat ya up Laughing

I'll be by to drop the welder off soon.

Any Quartz mtn pictures?

I adjusted the lower control arms in hopes that it will help the ujoint issue.

Replaced the diff side ujoint with a new Spicer one.

Ran a new breather line up into the engine compartment as well. The other one was full of holes and wasn't very long.

Installed a new Rugged Ridge Heavy Duty diff cover as well:

With 2.5 million things to do on this XJ I had to prioritize accordingly.

I started with the things that my wife complained about the most. :evil4:

The exhaust had many leaks and stank inside the cab so I installed new exhaust.

Then she complained about not having music so I installed a CD/Radio.

Next is to fix some of the many many leaks such as the leaky freeze plug.

Oh yea... no more hood rod!

I installed dual hood shocks so the hood opens automatically now. Laughing

It was nice having a heater and a windshield and doors and a radio! Laughing Laughing Laughing

It's a surprisingly fun rig.

After I fix all the leaks, add all the steering braces/armor... I will let my wife and son play with it.

Then...

I'm thinking about buying a 1997-up to install the new Rough Country long arm kit on. Use it for more show than go. aka: "Advertising"

Go here for more details on the long arm kits:
