UPDATE: SOLD: 1977 Chevy Crew Cab 4X4
I am thinking 8" suspension lift, cut out the fender wells and run 40-44" tires on it? Patch the rest of it together with diamond plating or stainless and play with it until it breaks... then fix it and repeat.
It's got a TH400 so I can probably get away with the bigger tires and not change the gears. Did I say that out loud? _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

FOR SALE or TRADE!!!
Runs and Drives!
This is a 1977 Chevrolet 4X4 Crew Cab pickup truck with a heavy duty Dana 44 front. Axles are supposed to have 4.56:1 gears but I have not pulled the diff covers to verify.
$1750 OBO/Trade?
The body is ROUGH but the running gear under this thing is heavy duty and in good working condition. The 350 Chevy (block # 3970010) motor has decent power and the TH400 tranny shifts very solid. The posi/locker in the Corporate 14 bolt rear end works and the Dana 44 front looked to be in good shape when I had it all apart for brake work. New NAPA front calipers and pads, new master cylinder Tabs good for a few more months.
Has nice tires and wheels on it.
This one has a 350 Chevy v-8 small block, rebuilt Turbo 400 transmission with sweet Transgo reprogrammable set-up, NP203 t-case, Heavy Duty Dana 44 front with old school large Spicer locking manual hubs, Corporate 14 rear with posi/locker.
Tilt wheel (tight), sliding rear window, rust in all the usual spots (drivers side under door is rusted through but fixable - already have patch panels), 4" lift kit, 255/85/R16 tires with nice rims.
I just did a tune up. I put on a remanufactured carb, new 8MM plug wires, plugs, cap and rotor. The motor runs good. It doesn't have NASCAR type racing power but it moves this heavy truck up and down the road pretty well.
I took out the front drive and replaced the leaky t-case output shaft seal right after I bought it. I put new u-joints in the front dirveshaft.
I also replaced a leaking steering pump line.
I've got over $2200 into it!. Trades that I'm interested in is for a good running Honda, Toyota, Mazda 4 door car or extended cab truck with manual transmission. Full size Chevy/GMC 4X4 Blazer. Also interested in GMC/Chevy motorhomes. Please DO NOT email me about wanting to trade your daddies "stamp collection" or your mommies "beanie baby" collection.
Also: If it isn't tall enough for you I can make you a sweet deal on a taller Rough Country or Superlift suspension lift kit. http://store.4WheelingPlus.com _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

350/th350/203 pt
31x10.50x15 on whitespoke wheels.
I need more room for my kids.
1 bench seat is not enough for driver, wife and two car-seats. _________________ My chevy parks on hondas

| So, what part of the state does Brutus reside in now? Did it end up going over to the Seattle area? |

Ravensdale area near Maple Valley. They guy who bought it works for a Chevy dealer so it should get fixed up pretty good. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

350 V-8 rebuilt last year, SM465 that shifts really smooth, NP205 that works good as far as I can tell, decent brakes, pull out stereo, plain jane interior, runs and drives and it's a true K30 with the Dana 60 under the front of it. YEA BABY!
This thing drives nice. I drove it almost 100 miles non-stop today and had no problems.
This one might become my tow vehicle since my other 1982 is too tall to tow. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

| Looks pretty clean. So how'd you find that one? So now you have two 82's. |

Yes this makes 1982 # 2. 1 is Chevy the other is GMC.
It has the normal rust. The brown paint hides it well. I paid top dollar for this one only because it drove really tight and the motor seemed strong. It has more rust than I like to deal with but the other parts are decent.
This one was found by a friend. I have a few guys constantly looking for these and when they find one they tell me about it... if I buy it they get a finders fee.
90% of the real 1-tons that we find already have the D60 removed or the owners want 2.5 million dollars for them because they read some website that said the front end was worth 2 million dollars.
I see lots of ads saying something like: "hey rock crawlers" or "building a big 4X4?" etc. When you read the details of the ad it says something like: 1986 Chevy 4X4 1ton truck. Hasn't moved in 10+ years. It is very rusty and it's missing the motor, trans, transfercase, doors, column, grill, and hood but it has the big 1ton axles that you jeepers need. We are asking $3500 FIRM or trade for a big screen TV of equal or more value.
I'm sure you've ran into similar scenarios.
THEN: If they can't send pics of the front end... Most of the time you go look at it and the front is a HD Dana 44. _________________ Ron Dunn Jr

Haha... sounds familiar. Ive gone and looked at many a 1-ton trucks that they said were Dana 60's and were 44's.
I had an '82 Crew Cab in the past that I kept the Dana 60 out of. Since it had a 10-bolt front end I put back under it, I sold it as a 3/4 ton as not to in any way deceive any potential buyer. It was kinda funny though, I still got like 5 calls on it asking if it had a 60 front.
I've also had people tell me they have a 60 front for sale or that they just have one, and I go look just to satisfy my curiosity, and find a 44 or 10-bolt, and have to explain to them the difference.
I just got a call from a guy that I got my '91 Crew Cab from, and he said he just picked up a '78 4x4 crew cab with 454 and 4" lift for $975! I asked him if it still had the 60 and he wasn't sure cause he's not too much of a suspension/drivetrain guy. I asked him if he'd sell it and he said maybe, so I'm gonna go look at it and if it has a 60 find out how much I'd have to give him to get him to re-sell it.
So, are you going to put a 454 in this latest '82?[/list] |

Here was another one I had... a '77 that according to the sticker in the glove box was a factory SB400 truck with 4.56 gears. I got it for $2000, and all that was wrong with it was a cracked flexplate. It had a swapped in 454 motor that ran strong.
A friend HAD to have it, so I made a deal where I traded the crew cab minus motor and with a Dana 44 front, for his '85 3/4 ton 4x4 regular cab with no motor.
I used the axles and motor in my GMC for a while, then I actually went to look at the gear ratio and it was 4.10s! I guess someone had switched the gears out.
Even funnier is that my friend put a 350 in the Crew Cab, put a 4" lift under it, got tired of it, then sold it for $4150. If I coulda known I could have gotten over $4000 for it I'd have kept it myself and re-sold it. |
