08' Annual Memorial Day Manatash Run - Cle Elum - Ellensburg

13 years and counting. It's late January and with the big 4X4 swap meet and the W.E. Rock Rock Crawl coming up I haven't started planning the 2008 Annual Memorial Day Manatash Run yet.

The main plans are always the same... camp at the Manastash camp ground. Head up there a few days in advance to secure our camping spot.

I should head up on May 21st or 22nd depending on how my week goes.

Like usual I will be scrambling to figure out how to get all the toys and kids up there with minimal trips back and forth. One of these days I hope to buy a REALLY long trailer so I only have to make one trip.

I will be wheeling the Ahtanum again this year as I have the last 4 years. The first two years I set up camp on the Tuesday before for the All Wheelers Club. That really sucked because of how many other people were camped so close. The last two years I wheeled the Ahtanum with WUD and stayed at the WUD Cabin. I hope WUD has their Annual Memorial Day Ahtanum Run again this year. If not I may just do day trips up.

Spring snow wheelin' rocks!

I'm not "finishing" your Grand until the day after I secure the spot.

Just kidding. I may be able to make room for you somewhere in my camp.

If it keeps dumping like it has been this year, it could really be interesting just getting to the camp sites with a trailer

Here's some pics of my buddy's house at the top of the pass.

Well I'm stoaked for this year.... Talked with some buds tonight and I got an idea how many folks are gonna "try" to show. Everyone is all pumped up right now. It's very early and things change but my group is prolly gonna consist of:

2 buggys
1 Sami/buggy
1 YJ on 35s
1 XJ on 33's
7 Grands  ..... need i say more

...... So far our plans consist of a gettin there on Thurs early....(I'll be there Wed for sure). We'll be scouting the trails/snow level Thursday night to give us an idea. This winter has been more harsh than last year. Friday will be the real fun. We want to hit Shoestring and Tripod. In order to run with us, you will have to have a winch and lockers or you stay at camp(plenty of seats in the Grands). I'm far from an elitist, but it's gonna be nasty. Saturday will be an easy day, and we'll be going to the Funny/Moon rocks to pull out our chairs, coolers and BS..... we'll watch the fun all day. Sunday will be a toss up between the trails or rocks. Monday will be a balls to the wall trail day. That's purty much it in a nut shell.

Ron and others, we'd be more than happy to have ya join us. A lot of us will be tenting it, like myself so there will be plenty of room for campers, trailers for those of you who want to join. All of us love hanging out, taking care of our trails, puttin some brew back and having some big camp fires with some good loud music....... in short we are all good guys. :D All are welcome. If we get enough folks we'll probably plan our dinners and all kick in something. Obviously if you're interested we can work out the details as it gets closer.

April 27th 2008 - Zaryn and I went up into the Manastash today to check out the snow and road conditions in preparation for Memorial Day camping and 4Wheeling. We didn't make it very far. There is more snow at this time in the year than I've ever seen in the last 13 years that I've been going up there!
